Independent apprenticeships
If an Etco apprenticeship isn’t for you, then you may prefer to be directly employed by an electrical contracting business. Etco can assist you in finding an independent employer and get you signed into the apprenticeship.
If you have already found an employer, Etco can meet with you and your employer to get your training agreement signed.
After we have lodged and confirmed your Training Agreement with the Tertiary Education Commission, you are ready to for your employment to become a formal apprenticeship.
Once that happens, we will connect you and your employer with your Etco apprentice Mentor who will visit you in the workplace for three monthly progress appraisals and we will allocate your night classes and block courses.
Within the first 90 days of your apprenticeship commencement, you will need to get a Trainee Limited Certificate (TLC) from the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB).
The TLC enables you to legally undertake certain electrical work, and it enables your supervisor to legally supervise you.
Etco can support you to get your TLC.
