Electrical Trade Foundation Course
To be considered for a place in our one-year Foundation course, you need to have achieved NCEA Level 1 in Mathematics, English, and General Science (or equivalent qualifications).
Our one-year course has been timetabled to allow you capacity to gain work experience or paid employment. Classes are timetabled three days of the week.
You will be tutored by the same experts who teach the highest achieving electrical apprentices in New Zealand.
There are a limited number of scholarships available to NCEA Level 1 students.
We are a Category 1 New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) Accredited Tertiary Education Provider.
Obtaining your Certificate in Electrical Engineering Theory (Level 3) is your springboard towards an electrical career.
With it under your belt you can apply for an Electrical Training Company apprenticeship, which will unlock many career opportunities.
The one-year, full-time Level 3 course will introduce you to:
- safe electrical installation practices
- servicing of electrical installations and equipment
- fault diagnosis and testing techniques
- how to install and maintain electrical equipment.
During your course you’ll also be encouraged to complete a minimum 40 hours of relevant work experience – your chance to put what you’ve learned in the classroom into practice in the real world.
The qualification provides pre-entry foundation knowledge of electrical engineering and is suitable for those who wish to enter the industry and who do not yet have an electrical apprenticeship agreement.
It’s up to you - so make it happen.
