Apprenticeships
Connecting the future
Etco is a wholly owned subsidiary of Master Electricians established to provide employment and training for the electrical industry in New Zealand. Our two main areas of activity are:
- the employment and placement of electrical apprentices via our group apprenticeship scheme
- the provision of training courses for apprentices and tradespeople.
Since our beginnings in 1991, our commitment to producing the best has helped thousands of Etco apprentices and students achieve outstanding results and successes in industry competitions, national examinations and the industry itself.
Which means an Etco apprenticeship is a significant opportunity for students (boys and girls) who are practically inclined and academically capable to:
Gain a valued qualification
Qualifying as an electrician provides entry into an industry where there is a high demand for tradespeople. The industry not only provides job security, but a range of career options and even travel, as NZ qualifications are recognised in most countries.
Get paid while learning
Students start earning from the outset in a trade where qualified electricians are well paid. They will receive a combination of practical and theoretical training and a lot of support and mentoring from Etco tutors and coordinators who are all experienced electricians.
Get challenged and grow
Not only will students encounter a wide range of jobs and situations, which keeps things interesting and stimulating, but they will encounter heaps of challenges that will extend and grow them, from learning how to problem solve to responding to increasing on-the-job independence.
Enjoy access to diverse work opportunities
This is a passport for many students to an exciting and rewarding career in a growing industry that is now so diverse and technology-driven the opportunities and rewards are only limited by their desire and enthusiasm to succeed.
