For the first time Etco took part in New Zealand’s leading Mathematics Conference for Educators in Christchurch. Starting on 3rd October and concluding on 6th October, we were able to talk to Maths teachers about the practical applications of Maths within the Electrical Industry.
With a ‘Back to the Future’ theme this conference was future focused and embraced moving mathematics and statistics education, pushing forward with all its possibilities of incorporating innovation, expanding knowledge and technology. This was a great opportunity to reach out and speak to teachers from around the country and provide them with some resources, in the form of booklets and posters, for their classrooms.
To be an Etco apprentice, high school students should be looking to achieve eight credits or more in NCEA Level 2 English, Maths and Physics or Industry-related Science. In Maths we look for Level 2 Algebra and Level 2 Trigonometry.
Going forward we will be looking to attend this event on a regular basis.
