Over my apprenticeship, Etco has provided me with the skills to succeed, the opportunities to grow and enhance both my skills and knowledge as well as a person. The first female apprentice hired by Southland electrical company EIS, Kath didn’t find being in a minority as daunting as others originally thought it might be. “Women aren’t often encouraged to seek a career in manual trades” mentions Kath. Something we, at Etco, hope to change.
Desiré is a sought-after apprentice in the Hawkes Bay area. With her great eye for detail, she has proved that she is a valuable member of any team. Desiré works for McLaren Stainless in Hastings and is involved in installing PLC programs, commissioning variable speed drives and undertaking factory testing.
A hard-working apprentice and winner of the M.E. Challenge, Harmony's host company Leck Electrical has remarked that she is the best apprentice they have ever employed. During the Master Electrician Prelims, Harmony paid particular attention to detail and excelled at the testing element of the competition. Something that other competitors struggled with.
