What Training is involved?

An apprenticeship is a combination of two types of training:

On-Job Training
On-Job Training

This happens as part of your day to day work. It involves working with and assisting an Electrician and being shown how to do the job. By watching, learning and progressively doing more of the job yourself you will reach a level of competence where you can do the job unaided.

Off-Job Training
Off-Job Training

It is important that you understand not only HOW to do the job competently and safely but also WHY it must be done a certain way. This is done by completing courses of study and ultimately sitting EWRB Electrical Theory and Regulations exams in your final year. This will involve study at home and attending etco* evening classes and block courses. You will complete on-going assignments, assessments and final examinations.
